Corey Heim Remains Sports-Betting Favorite To Capture Idle NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Drivers Championship

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim accomplished nearly everything Friday night at Martinsville Speedway.
The circuit’s points leader padded his stats with two stage wins and a bonus point for registering the fastest lap. Heim led for 149 of 200 laps. The No. 11 Toyota proved to be the strongest machine and he appeared on his way to a third trip to Victory Lane in six starts. Until that is, rookie Kaden Honeycutt detoured Heim’s victory plans with an incident following a Lap 166 restart.
Honeycutt, who ran near the leaders for most of the race, attempted to claim the lead, squeezing Heim into the Turn 1 wall as his machine endured a flat left-rear tire.
Daniel Hemric earned the win and Heim finished P6, but it seemed a bit disappointing.
“It’s hard not to be frustrated,” Heim told Fox Sports. “I don’t think (Honeycutt) intended to cut my left rear down. I think if he wanted to do that, he would have just wrecked me as it is.”
As the Truck Series takes the weekend off, Heim (+180) remains the sports-betting favorite to capture the circuit title, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. Reigning champion Ty Majeski drew the second-best odds at +300.
The Truck Series returns April 11 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
