Dodgers Already Breaking MLB Records Just 5 Games Into The Season

The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2025 MLB season as the heavy favorites to win the World Series. Their lineup is stacked with MVPs and their pitching staff is a murderers row of elite arms, as they appear to be one of the most talented teams we’ve ever seen, at least on paper.
Dodgers Breaking MLB Records During 5-0 Start
That paper is translating just fine to the product on the field during the first five games of the season, as the team is already breaking records with their stellar performance during the first week of the regular season.
The Dodgers technically started their season nearly two weeks ago when they took on the Chicago Cubs in Japan. Los Angeles wasted no time displaying their dominance, winning both games during the international miniseries, with a combined score total of 10-4.
Then, during the official MLB opening weekend, they took on the Detroit Tigers. It was a clean sweep for the Dodgers in their first three games stateside, improving their record to a perfect 5-0, and showing why the sportsbooks had them listed as landslide victors this season.

They’ve broken an impressive record in the process. In addition to their 5-0 record, they’ve scored 30+ runs and drawn 20+ walks, while also hitting 10+ home runs. On the defensive side, they’ve yet to commit a single error, and their pitchers have accounted for 55+ strikeouts. It is not only the first time that an MLB team has had those numbers to start the season, but is the first time that any team has ever accomplished the feat during any five game span in the history of the game.
The Dodgers are off of the schedule on Sunday, but will face what could be a true test to start the coming week. On Monday, a three-game set against the Atlanta Braves will begin, who are projected to be one of the top teams in the National League aside from Los Angeles. That series will be followed by the first road trip of the season for the Dodgers, which will start against the Philadelphia Phillies, who are also considered one of the better squads this year.
