NASCAR Xfinity Series Food City 300 Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Bristol Motor Speedway

NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Sammy Smith knows where he will be working next season. And he doesn’t have clean out his desk.

JR Motorsports announced Monday the Mooresville, N.C.-based organization agreed to a one-year contract extension with Smith, who will pilot the No. 8 Chevrolet for a third season in 2026.

“We are thrilled to have Sammy back,” CEO Kelley Earnhardt said via press release. “We’re looking forward to seeing what the future will hold next year after our run for a championship in 2025.”

Smith enters Friday night’s Round of 12 opener at Bristol Motor Speedway ranked No. 6 in the playoff standings, four points ahead of the cutoff line. Smith won the event at Rockingham Speedway in April.

“I am looking forward to continuing to build on what we’ve accomplished together here at JRM,” said Smith, who twice advanced to the Round of 8.

Regular-season champion Connor Zilisch, who has captured seven of the past eight outings, opens the playoffs with a 59-point advantage.
