Initially established in 1914 five miles west of downtown Jackson, Mississippi, the Country Club of Jackson now sits on 400 acres of land in the northeast part of the capital city.

The original club featured a Tom Bendelow-designed 18-hole golf course, but when the move occurred in the late 1950s, Dick Wilson was enlisted to design the new layout, which opened in the early 1960s and was played by the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Byron Nelson, Lee Trevino, and Bob Hope.

Over the next few decades, a few renovations were made, but in 2007, a complete redesign began under the eye of former PGA Tour player John Fought, whose designs and collaborations include Oregon’s Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club and the two courses at The Gallery Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona, which has hosted the PGA Tour Tucson Open and the WGC-Match Play event.

The new championship course at the Country Club of Jackson opened in 2008 and became the host of the PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship in 2014. The club also features a nine-hole layout that’s great for families, youngsters, and those new to the game.

In addition to golf, the club also features tennis, pickleball, swimming, croquet, and a state-of-the-art fitness center and spa.

Unfortunately for the general public, the Country Club of Jackson is a private facility. And as it typically goes with most private clubs, there are varying membership levels. And as it also typically goes, membership costs aren’t included on the club’s official website.

However, after doing a little digging, we found that one can expect to pay anywhere from $2,500 to $25,000 in initiation fees and between $250 and $1,500 in monthly dues, depending on the level of membership.
