NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Boys & Girls Club Of The Blue Ridge 200: Qualifying, Corey Heim’s Pole Position, Lineup At Martinsville Speedway

Prepping for the first short-track race on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series schedule, TRICON Garage’s Corey Heim earned the pole position for Friday night’s Boys & Girls Club of the Blue Ridge 200 at Martinsville Speedway.
The circuit points leader with two wins and three top-fives in four starts, Heim turned a hot qualifying lap of 96.347 mph, edging reigning series titleholder Ty Majeski (96.068 mph), Kaden Honeycutt (95.978), Chandler Smith (95.961) and Daniel Hemric (95.815).
Heim compiled two top-10 finishes (P10 and P7) last season, but did not contend at the 0.526-mile oval in either outing. Heim remains the lone Truck Series regular to have qualified for the playoffs this season.

Todd Bodine Calls for Cost-Cutting Changes
Todd Bodine, a two-time Truck Series titleholder, confirmed the circuit’s financial situation remained strong, but further fiscal responsibility should be explored.
“We need to refine what we’re doing and try to figure out how to save money,” Bodine said, as reported by Autoweek.com. “There’s a lot of local short-track teams that would love to be involved more heavily in the truck series, but a guy that has a local plumbing business can afford to race short tracks and he can maybe run a couple of truck races, but that’s all he can do.”
Currently a Fox Sports analyst, Bodine noted that when the series launched, the entry lists were filled with drivers at the end of their careers. Now, prospects fill the ranks.
“They’re trying to make a name for themselves,” Bodine said. “We wanted to do it as long as we could, and the truck series afforded us that opportunity.”
With the six Truck Series races in 2022, Todd Bodine will become the 28th driver to reach 800 career #NASCAR starts.
Why get back in a truck as he hasn’t driven in the series since 2013, hasn’t had a NASCAR start since 2017 and turns 58 in February?
