Forced to wait for one of his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competitors’ machines to be pushed off the Richmond Raceway track, driver Corey Heim sat and waited. It didn’t bother him.
The series points leader didn’t wait long after getting the green flag for the qualifying session for Friday night’s eero 250, the circuit’s final regular-season event.
While second-place finisher Ty Majeski took two laps to post his hot lap, Heim needed just one rotation at 116.91 mph before being told on his team radio: “Shut it down.” Claiming his fourth pole position in a row, Heim edged Majeski by 0.082 seconds.
The event’s defending champion, Majeski, was curious to see how the track would handle the race starting in daylight and finishing under the lights.
“It’s going to be a different product,” Majeski, the series’ reigning titleholder, told Fox Sports.
Winless this season, Majeski appears locked into the provisional playoffs. He has placed in the top three in three career starts at Richmond.
Luke Fenhaus paced the practice session, turning in a best lap of 115.721 mph.
The Truck Series will take next weekend off and begin the 10-team postseason at Darlington Raceway on Aug. 30.

Connor Mosack In Must-Win Situation
Time is running out on Connor Mosack.
With one regular-season race remaining, the Truck Series rookie finds his No. 81 Chevrolet team sitting in 14th place in the drivers’ playoff standings, 103 points below the provisional line.
Without a trip to Victory Lane at the iconic three-quarter mile oval, Mosack likely will miss the postseason.
Friday’s start from the 14th position will be Mosack’s first at the three-quarter-mile short track.
