For a moment, on the final overtime lap Friday night at Texas Motor Speedway, Daniel Hemric flanked NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Corey Heim on the inside and Ben Rhodes on the outside. 

As successful as his season has been, Heim, the circuit points leader, resents that he should have at least five wins this season, not just three. He didn’t want this opportunity to slip away. With moves like the one he pulled to earn the SpeedyCash.com 250, future trips to Victory Lane could begin to accumulate. 

As Rhodes edged in front of Heim at Texas, Hemric countered by making his move. 

It soon became Heim time. 

Heim took control by racing straight through the middle, clearing the two contenders and seizing the checkered flag. 

“I wasn’t going to let them take this one away from me,” Heim told Fox Sports. “They tried to take me three-wide and I just drove until I couldn’t anymore.”
