Jake Garcia was a bit overshadowed.

At one end of the ThorSport Racing’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage in Sandusky, Ohio, Ty Majeski was piecing together a run to the 2024 circuit championship.

At the other end, first-year teammate Jake Garcia struggled to a No. 17 ranking in the final drivers’ standings. Through his opening 10 starts, Garcia failed to register a top-10 finish.

Through seven races this season, the 20-year-old Monroe, Georgia, native nearly matched Majeski’s effort. Separated by just four points, No. 6 Majeski (228 points) collected two top fives and three top 10s and one stage win. No. 7 Garcia (224) registered two top fives and five top 10s.

In his past four outings, Garcia, who placed P2 at Rockingham Speedway on April 18, compiled a 4.75 average finish. Garcia claimed the pole and led 43 rocks in the national series’ return to “The Rock.”

“Last year wasn’t a great year for us,” Garcia said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “I don’t know that I really improved a lot, driver-wise. Maybe a little. But we’re running about 20 spots better every week, so it’s certainly refreshing.”

Idle last weekend, the Truck Series returns for Friday night’s SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway. Corey Heim paces the circuit with 312 points, 22 more than No. 2 Chandler Smith (290 points) and Rockingham winner Tyler Ankrum (250).

Garcia will make his Xfinity Series debut Saturday.
