Ryan Blaney, the NASCAR Cup Series’ sports-betting favorite to capture the 2025 drivers’ championship, didn’t have much of a chance last Sunday at Kansas Speedway. Not from the start.
Blaney wrecked the primary No. 12 Ford after enduring a blown tire while running practice laps and forgoing the qualifying session. Competing in a backup machine, Blaney started the second of three Round of 12 races in back of the pack, but rallied to a top-10 position before being flagged for a speeding penalty along pit road. the 2023 Cup titleholder finished P24 after winning the Sept. 21 event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“I thought we probably could have run eighth to 10th,” Blaney said, as reported by Motorsports Wire. “That was kind of our max potential with this thing. I thought we got a little better through the day, which was good.”
Can Blaney’s team carry the momentum into next weekend’s event at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, a venue he’s had success at before? BetOnline Sportsbook tabbed Blaney (+350) as the favorite to capture his second championship in three seasons.
“We’ll go have a good weekend (at the Charlotte Roval) and try to win a stage and win the race,” Blaney said. “The road course strategies get pretty up in the air, so we’ll just go try to maximize our day.”
