With six Round of 8 openings available Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Midway through the Bank of America ROVAL 400, Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell qualified for the NASCAR Cup Series playoff points.
With four spots remaining early in the third stage, Denny Hamlin and William Byron drove conservatively, understanding they needed clean rides to advance.
That left Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain and reigning Cup champion Joey Logano on the brink of elimination.
Logano earned the final spot, with a little help from Chastain finishing in reverse after a final-lap gamble failed. Chase Briscoe also advanced to the third round of the playoffs, opening at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
