NASCAR Cup Series driver Joey Logano meant for the sarcasm to come through loud and clear: “Way to go, Austin. Way to go, you (&!^%)!”

Logano wasn’t congratulating the eventual winner of Sunday’s Jack Link’s 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. The reigning circuit titleholder sounded off on his team radio following the second stage. Cindric did not give Logano, a Team Penske teammate, the needed push to capture the 10 stage points. He wasn’t pleased.

Pulling out of his lane in front of Cindric, Logano wanted his Ford peer to give up a push coming out of Turn 4. It never developed and Bubba Wallace claimed the second stage.

Cindric explained to NASCAR.com.

“I felt like I kind of just got pinched,” Cindric said. “I was trying not to wreck the cars in front of me, including Joey. It was a messy end of the stage that I feel like between myself, the 21 (Josh Berry), Joey could have probably done better. We let one slip there.”

Logano, who did not comment on the missed opportunity after the race, finished P5, but was disqualified by post-race inspection officials for spoiler violations.

The win provided Team Penske with its first win this season and lifted Cindric into 14th place in the driver standings, 170 points behind pace-setter William Byron. Logano enters Sunday’s Würth 400 at Texas Motor Speedway ranked 11th, securing just one top-10 finish in 10 outings.
