The 22-year-old pilot posted nine wins and 15 top-five finishes in 21 outings. Of 3,418 combined laps this season, Heim has led 1,436 rotations. He also earned six pole positions and remained the sports-betting favorite to capture his first drivers’ championship, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, drawing odds of -165.

Heim, who captured two of the first three playoff races, enters Friday’s Round of 8 opener at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course with a direct path to the Championship 4 race. He and Layne Riggs have already qualified for the Oct. 31 finale at Phoenix Raceway.

Heim recorded his first Cup Series top-10 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 13.
