NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ Tyler Ankrum Still Contending; Corey Heim Earns Top Title Odds

With the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series taking a week off before kicking off the Round of 8, driver Tyler Ankrum reflected on his Stage 3 rally at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. 

After starting the second stage P20, Ankrum attempted to work through traffic. With 10 laps to go in the section, Ankrum held the 15th position before a multi-machine accident brought the No. 18 Chevrolet in for a quick pit stop, gaining three positions.

Ankrum lost the spots after a late-stage collision.  

With 54 rotations remaining, Ankrum battled back into the top 10 before settling for P11. It was enough to push the team into the second round of the playoffs.

“That was a tough day,” Ankrum said via press release. “Proud of these guys for making it to the next round, but we have a lot of mistakes to clean up before we get to the Roval. The Round of 8 is going to be a challenge with all three races truly wild cards. We have a lot of work to do if we want to make it to Phoenix in the champ four, but I have full confidence in this team and we will do whatever it takes and put in the max amount of effort we can.”

Ankrum enters the Oct. 3 Charlotte ROVAL race ranked No. 5 in the playoff standings, tied with No. 4 Ty Majeski and one point behind No. 3 Daniel Hemric.  

Regular-season champion Corey Heim (-165) remains 69 points above the cutoff and drew the top championship odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
