Dale Earnhardt Jr. Considering NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Debut; Corey Heim Earns Top Drivers’ Championship Odds

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is considering a career change. The stock car racing icon is thinking about the possibility of making his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut.

One sticking point remains, however. The former Cup Series driver and current Xfinity Series co-owner is not sure which venue “would be fun for me,” Earnhardt said, as reported by The Daily Express.

A 26-race winner in 631 career Cup starts, Earnhardt also won 24 times in 147 Xfinity outings. But the 50-year-old never competed in a Truck race. He admitted he would “probably regret not running one or two.”

A co-owner of JR Motorsports, Earnhardt’s organization, led by Connor Zilisch and reigning champion Justin Allgaier, remains the heavy favorite to claim the Xfinity Series’ drivers’ title. He plans to continue driving in an annual Xfinity event a year for the near future. He last competed in the 2024 Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, placing P7 despite “chaotic” communication issues.

Besides finding a “fun” venue, Earnhardt is also considering when – or if – he may decide on making his Truck circuit debut. It may not happen until he’s “58 years old at Wilkesboro. Don’t hold me to it.”

While Earnhardt considers his driving future, Corey Heim currently controls the series’ present. With eight wins in 19 starts, Heim, one race into the postseason, is already locked into the Round of 8. At -150, He remains the series’ heavy favorite to capture the drivers’ championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.
