NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series EcoSave 250: Connor Zilisch Draws Top Odds

 Spire Motorsports will field three NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams for Friday’s Round of 8 opener at Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course. 

As the circuit prepares to compete at the 17-turn, 2.28-mile track for the first time, the Mooresville, N.C., organization signed Xfinity Series standout Connor Zilisch to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet. 

Playoff driver Rajah Caruth (No. 71) and former Cup Series regular Corey LaJoie (77) also are scheduled to compete Friday. Zilisch (-130) was tabbed as the sports-betting favorite to capture the EcoSave 250 title, according to BetOnline Sportsbook. 

Zilisch posted five wins, seven top-five finishes and five poles in seven Xfinity Series road course events this season. Zilisch’s Spire debut at COTA in 2024 resulted in the teenager establishing a qualifying record and a come-from-behind P4 finish after enduring a pair of early setbacks. 

Zilisch’s one Truck Series outing this season resulted in a P8 at Watkins Glen. 

“It’s my background and just coming up racing in Go Karts,” Zilisch said via press release. “I raced on road courses a lot more than most people in NASCAR did, so I just have a better feel for it.

“I had a lot of fun racing with the No. 7 team last year and I wanted to do more races than I have so far this year, which is zero, but I am excited to at least get to go to the ROVAL with them and maybe try and redeem ourselves for losing the race at COTA last year.”
