NASCAR Xfinity Series Ag-Pro 300 Entry List: Dates, Event Times At Talladega Superspeedway

After recently being criticized for wrecking Taylor Gray at Martinsville Speedway, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Sammy Smith had no complaints about the move Jesse Love pulled during the overtime restart Saturday at Rockingham Speedway.   

Lined up on the inside behind Smith, Love tapped the No. 8 Chevrolet, which moved in front of Gray’s machine. While Smith received fines for wrecking Gray and various other leaders three weeks ago, Love’s finesse move initially put the No. 2 Chevrolet into Victory Lane.    

Smith, who was later ruled the winner after Love’s machine failed post-race inspection, had no complaints after being moved from the lead.   

“Yeah, it was, you know, that was good, hard racing right there,” Sammy Smith said, as reported by NASCAR.com. “I ran in (hard) that first restart when I got the lead. So, you know, congrats to Jesse.”   

For his Martinsville actions, Smith was fined $25,000 and 50 driver points. For his effort Saturday, the JR Motorsports driver collected the Dash 4 Cash prize of $100,000. 

 “Yeah, I guess I can pay my fine back,” he said. “So, that’s a little bit exciting. But yeah, we’ll keep digging. Really happy with the progress we’ve made and we’ll keep digging.”
