Robert Tonyan Leads the List of Ideal NFL Streaming Options Who Can Give You a Week 4 Win

Finding the best NFL streaming options becomes a necessary evil for a lot of fantasy football managers perplexed by injuries and bye weeks as any season progresses.

At best, streamers are informed decisions. At worst, they’re longshots managers hope will produce the way David Njoku did for the Cleveland Browns in Week 3. The tight end recorded nine catches for 89 yards and a touchdown — 23.9 point-per-reception (PPR) fantasy points — in Week 3 after averaging just under four points per game over the first two weeks of the 2022 season.

So, who’s the next Njoku-esque gamble who can pay off big for fantasy owners?

Packers TE Robert Tonyan is the top NFL streaming option at his position this week

Green Bay Packers tight end Robert Tonyan has yet to find the end zone this season, and considering the team’s troubles at wide receiver, that is a bit surprising.

Fantasy managers who didn’t land one of the top-tier tight ends are no doubt searching high and low for some production from the position. This week, they can look for one of Aaron Rodgers’ favorite targets.

Tonyan, who is rostered in fewer than 20% of ESPN leagues and is ranked TE18, is being targeted on a team-high 30% of his routes this season and has 11 catches for 84 yards on 14 targets through three games.

During his 2020 breakout season, Tonyan had 11 touchdowns on 52 receptions — that was before a knee injury ended his 2021 season — so he knows where the end zone is, and he has Rodgers’ trust. The further removed from the knee injury he gets, the more impact he could have for the Packers’ passing game and fantasy managers.

Last week, three Baltimore Ravens tight ends — led by fantasy TE1 Mark Andrews — put up big cumulative numbers against the New England Patriots, accounting for 11 catches for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

Tonyan could similarly break through against the Patriots in Week 4.

Detroit Lions D/ST can take advantage of Seahawks

The Detroit Lions are ranked 30th among NFL defenses/special teams in fantasy but are at home against one of the league’s most anemic offenses.

The Seattle Seahawks are averaging 15.7 points per game and own the 28th-ranked offense in the league. Quarterback Geno Smith has been better than expected, completing 77.5% of his passes, but has turned that impressive stat into only four touchdowns with two interceptions.

The Lions haven’t exactly been the 2021 Dallas Cowboys when it comes to takeaways with only one fumble recovery and one interception, so that will have to change for them to become a worthwhile candidate among the NFL streaming options.

It could happen. The Detroit pass rush is improved behind top 2022 draft pick Aidan Hutchinson. The Lions have seven sacks and 12 tackles for loss through three games, so they are getting into opposing backfields. Hutchinson has three of the Lions’ sacks and two tackles for loss.

Seattle is a good matchup for anyone looking for an edge at D/ST. Yes, the Lions are statistically an unlikely choice, but for fantasy managers willing — and needing — to gamble, they could be a good one.

Giants WR David Sills can find chemistry with QB Daniel Jones

The last we saw of Giants wide receiver David Sills, he was slipping onto the turf of MetLife Stadium as a Daniel Jones pass spiraled into the hands of Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs for an interception that effectively ended the Giants’ hope of victory on Monday Night Football.

Across the field at the same time, Giants wideout Sterling Shepard crumpled to the ground with a non-contact torn ACL that ended his season.

With Shepherd out, Kenny Golladay’s photo on a milk carton, and the enigmatic Kadarius Toney questionable against the Chicago Bears, Jones needs to find someone to target. Expect many of those looks to go to running back Saquon Barkley and a group of tight ends led by rookie Daniel Bellinger. 

That leaves Sills and Richie James — neither of whom have made a dent on many fantasy rosters — at receiver for the Giants. 

Sills, a second-year player out of West Virginia who has bounced on and off the Giants’ practice squad, has five catches for 57 yards over the past two weeks. As a former quarterback, a sure-handed receiver, and a rather large target (6-foot-3, 210 pounds), he may be just what Jones needs.

He may be a desperation FLEX stream against the Bears. But more importantly, he could be a claim-and-stash player for fantasy owners.
