We’re off and running with the 2023 PGA Tour schedule, and what a way to kick things off. Collin Morikawa, who entered the final round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions with a six-shot advantage, faltered down the stretch and watched Jon Rahm steal the trophy from his clutches.

The PGA Tour remains in Hawaii this weekend for the 2023 Sony Open at Waialae Country Club, but most of the superstars in the Sentry TOC field aren’t sticking around. So, with Morikawa, Rahm, and others skipping this week to prepare for the West Coast Swing, let’s check out the Sony Open 2023 odds and see who’s been pegged as the betting favorite to win at Waialae.

20-year-old Tom Kim is the betting favorite to win the 2023 Sony Open

Just a few months ago, hardly anyone knew who Joohyung “Tom” Kim was. The talented 20-year-old didn’t even have his PGA Tour card last season, and he only snuck into the FedEx Cup Playoffs because he won the regular-season finale at the Wyndham Championship.

But ever since that improbable victory, the Tom Kim hype train has sold out every last ticket.

Now a full-timer on the PGA Tour, Kim opened his 2022-23 season with a victory at the Shriners Children’s Open. The South Korean followed that up with a T25 at the Zozo Championship, a T11 at the CJ Cup, a T10 at the Hero World Challenge, and a T5 at last week’s Sentry TOC. He currently ranks third on Tour in strokes gained from tee to green and fourth in total strokes gained, and he’s already risen to No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Kim is a superstar in the making, and oddsmakers are starting to take notice. Ahead of this weekend’s event, Kim is the betting favorite to win the 2023 Sony Open at +1000 odds (FanDuel). Fellow South Korean Sungjae Im is second on the odds board at +1200, while Jordan Spieth (+1500) and reigning champion Hideki Matsuyama (+1600) round out the top four.
