The Dallas Cowboys had possibly the most impressive 2020 NFL draft of any team in the league. Their star-studded draft class was highlighted by first-round pick CeeDee Lamb out of Oklahoma, and for a good reason.

Lamb was arguably the most talented wide receiver in the entire draft and a possible top-10 pick, but he fell to the Cowboys at No. 17. In the second round, Dallas scooped up cornerback Trevon Diggs out of Alabama, a player they would’ve been happy taking in the first round.

Lamb and Diggs understandably command most of the hype surrounding the Cowboys’ 2020 draft class, but there’s another rookie who’s already turning heads in Dallas.

CeeDee Lamb to the Cowboys was one of the best picks in the 2020 NFL draft

The Cowboys surely didn’t need a wide receiver heading into the 2020 NFL draft, but boy did they get a good one. Lamb, thought of by many to be the best WR prospect in the class, somehow fell to the back end of the first round, and Dallas pounced at the opportunity to bolster its passing attack.

Dallas had many other needs it could’ve addressed with this pick, but Lamb’s talent and upside were too good to pass up. Most NFL fans love the skilled, offensive weapons, so the Dallas faithful was ecstatic about the addition.

Lamb might’ve been the sexiest pick for the Cowboys in the 2020 draft, but a later-round steal might turn out to be their best selection in the long run.

Bradlee Anae might be the Cowboys’ best pick from the 2020 NFL draft

If you thought Lamb was a steal in round one, Bradlee Anae falling to the Cowboys in round five is an Ocean’s Eleven-level robbery.

Anae was a stud pass rusher for four seasons at Utah. He finished his collegiate career with 29.5 sacks and 40 tackles for loss, and he upped his sack count in every season with the Utes.

Besides his stellar production, Anae was an NFL-ready talent while he was still in college. His technique and vast skillset were both beyond his years as a prospect, but he somehow fell to day three of the 2020 draft.

The Cowboys scooped him up in the fifth round, and he’s already proving to be a tremendous value pick late in the 2020 NFL draft.

Anae has been one of the most impressive Cowboys rookies in training camp

With a shortened training camp and no preseason games to get young players acclimated to the NFL, it’s hard to predict which rookies will flourish and which will flop in year one.

But reports out of Cowboys’ training camp have been beyond encouraging for Anae. As a rookie, he’s been one of the most impressive players on the defensive line for Dallas so far. He’s been getting pressure on the quarterback during live drills, and local reporters have been gushing over his production.

Last week, Anae recorded a sack on two consecutive plays during team drills. Behind Lamb and Diggs, he’s been the most impressive rookie on the roster.

Lamb and Diggs will be the fan-favorites in 2020, and rightfully so, but Anae could prove to be the best draft pick this year when it’s all said and done.
