Tommy DeVito Giants
Mamma Mia!

No athlete since Jeremy Lin has captivated New York City like Tommy DeVito. The Italian quarterback has become a nationwide sensation since taking over the Giants offense at the end of October.

Not only is he a lovable character with a family straight out of the Sopranos, he’s winning!

New York is 3-2 with the undrafted free agent as the starter. Brian Daboll’s team has won more NFL games with DeVito than it did with Daniel Jones.

Unfortunately, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the man lovingly known as ‘Tommy Cutlets’ does not have much hope to hold his current role into next season. Daniel Jones is set to return in time for training camp and the Giants reportedly have their mind made up about the quarterback position.

Garafolo says that DeVito is a “spot starter” who is hoping to earn the primary backup spot for next year. He implied that Jones will be the starting quarterback in 2024.

Every situation is fluid. Things are subject to change.

Tommy DeVito might be left out.

It is not impossible for DeVito to win the job over Jones with a remarkable finish to this season and a strong performance during camp. The team could be quick give Jones the hook next year if he doesn’t get it done.

However, regardless of what happens down the stretch, it sounds like the front office in New Jersey is not interested in benching their $160 million signal-caller in favor of someone who was never “supposed” to be elevated off of the practice squad, let alone start. Bummer!

Although DeVito was never “expected” to be as good as he has been in recent weeks, it’s not like he didn’t have a proven track record of success. His time at Syracuse was not ideal, but the Paisan passer played well at Illinois and dominated multiple different circuits, including the Elite 11, in high school.

Perhaps the Giants should reconsider their future!
