Alex Pereira Jamahal Hill - UFC

Former UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jamahal Hill has explained his clash in the UFC Performance Institute with former foe Alex Pereira, after altercation goes viral on social media.

Jamahal Hill Explains Alex Pereira Clash

Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira are two men who certainly have some history. Both UFC light-heavyweight fighters have held the UFC Light-Heavyweight Title at one stage, with ‘Poatan’ still the champion at 205-pounds.

The reason that Pereira is the king at light-heavyweight is because he beat Hill in emphatic fashion. The Brazilian knocked out his opponent in the first round to claim the 205-pound belt back in April 2024 at UFC 300.

Now, tensions have once again risen between the two fighters. Both Pereira and Hill were training at the UFC Performance Institute on Thursday, before clashing at the Las Vegas gym, which was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media.

This clash has stirred rumours of a potential rematch between the two in 2025. However, Hill will first have to beat Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 before he can even think about facing Alex Pereira again for UFC gold.

The other caveat is that ‘Poatan’ may well move up to heavyweight in a bid to become a three-division UFC champion. If he did so, he would be the first fighter in history to achieve the feat. UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has welcomed a fight with Pereira, but UFC President Dana White is more keen on the Tom Aspinall fight for ‘Bones’ next.

Regardless, demand for a Alex Pereira vs Jamahal Hill rematch has most definitely increased this week. Their clash at the UFC PI on Thursday almost turned into an unofficial title fight there and then, but an actual rematch could be on the cards at some stage next year.

Speaking of the clash with Alex Pereira at the UFC PI on Thursday, Jamahal Hill certainly didn’t pull any punches:

“Initially when I went up to him it was smooth. It was like ‘Don’t run to heavyweight, we need to run this back.’

Time will tell whether a rematch between the pair comes to fruition or not. But first, the former belt holder at 205-pounds must defeat Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311. Maybe then can he focus on another battle with ‘Poatan’.
