Chelsea star Cole Palmer has addressed his ongoing goal drought following the Blues’ 4-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League.
Despite Chelsea’s resounding win at Stamford Bridge, Palmer once again failed to register a goal or an assist, extending his blank streak to six consecutive league matches.
Cole Palmer’s Message to Chelsea Fans
Palmer took to Instagram after the match, posting a photo of himself in deep thought at full-time, with the caption, “Well done lads +3. Don’t worry I will be back.”
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who remains Chelsea’s most influential forward this season with 14 goals and six assists in 27 appearances, is determined to return to top form.

Palmer’s Struggles in Front of Goal
Despite his overall impressive tally, Palmer’s dip in form has been a growing concern.
Against Southampton, he missed several key chances, continuing a trend that has seen him fail to contribute directly to a Chelsea goal in over a month.
Football pundit and Chelsea fan Paul Merson believes that the absence of Nicolas Jackson due to injury has played a significant role in Palmer’s struggles.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson explained, “They miss Jackson. Palmer makes Jackson, and Jackson makes Palmer.
“People might say Palmer is an unbelievable player, but you’re only as good as the players around you.”
Merson highlighted how Jackson’s movement helped stretch opposition defenses, allowing Palmer more space and opportunities to create and score.
Without the striker, the Chelsea attack has become more congested, limiting Palmer’s effectiveness.

Maresca’s View on Palmer’s Form
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was questioned about Palmer’s goal drought after the Southampton match, who downplayed any concerns.
“He has to continue to work, continue to be happy, continue to laugh the way he does,” Maresca told the BBC.
“It is normal to go through a moment where you struggle to score, but it doesn’t matter. Just continue, and you are going to score many goals.”
Maresca also emphasised that it is unrealistic to expect Palmer to maintain the record-breaking form he displayed last season when he netted 22 goals and provided 11 assists.
“You cannot expect Cole Palmer to be at that level every season or every game,” Maresca added. “He’s a human being. It’s about how he reacts.”
Prior to the Southampton clash, Maresca had already voiced concerns about Chelsea’s overreliance on Palmer during his rough patch.
