Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford bagged a brace to register his first goals in Villa colours before Jacob Ramsey added a third to put the game beyond doubt in the final quarter.
Preston, the only Championship side left in the competition, went into the match missing several key faces.

Having missed some big chances, Rashford eventually found the net just before the hour-mark.

Villa now face Crystal Palace in the semi-final, looking for a first trophy since 1996.
