Arsenal fans across social media are in meltdown following news that the club have made a bid for 31-year-old Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

Arsenal Make £9.3m Bid For Brentford’s Christian Norgaard

David Ornstein of The Athletic has confirmed that Arsenal have made an approach for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard.

His report states that the Gunners have lodged an €11m (£9.3m) bid for the 31-year-old.

The Bees are yet to respond to the offer, Ornstein claims.

Norgaard has been a key player for the club since his arrival from Fiorentina in 2019 and has two years remaining on his deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Dane has made a total of 192 appearances for the West Londoners, scoring 13 goals.

Arsenal’s links to the central midfielder comes amid Thomas Partey’s prospective exit.

Mikel Arteta has been pushing for the Ghanaian to sign a contract extension, however they have failed to reach an agreement. As it stands, he will depart the Emirates as a free agent next week.

It follows on from Jorginho’s exit for Club World Cup side Flamengo at the start of the month.

The 33-year-old has starred for the Brazilian outfit thus far, providing two assists as they finished top of Group D, ahead of Premier League side Chelsea, out in the United States.

Meanwhile, Martin Zubimendi is expected to join from Real Sociedad in the near future.

Gunners Fans In Meltdown Over Norgaard Transfer Talks

In response to the Norgaard links, some Arsenal fans have gone into meltdown on social media.

This is mainly down to his age, with many suggesting that the club should look to sign a younger midfielder rather than one that is approaching the latter stages of his career.

One Gunners fan wrote: “Releasing a 32-year-old player to sign a 31-year-old player. Make that make sense.”

Another added: “This club man. Why are you signing a 31-year-old?”

A third Arsenal supporter commented: “They’re about to replace 33-year-old Jorginho with a 31-year-old Norgaard. The state of this club.”

Poking fun at the Gunners, a Chelsea fan said: “Instead of buying a scoring forward they keep signing midfielders and defenders,” accompanied with a laughing face.

A Manchester United supporter responded by questioning Arteta’s transfer strategy, writing: “What is it with Arteta and midfielders? They need forwards.”

It wasn’t all doom and gloom though, with some Gunners fans praising the potential move.

SemperFiArsenal wrote: “Wow. One of the most underrated players in the PL. Excellent deal if this happens.”

ARSENAL VOICE said: “Good business for that fee, very good and aggressive with the ball, good playmaker and good in attack. 31-years-old with loads of experience, we get a good two years off him for that fee.”

Elsewhere in the market, Arsenal have reportedly entered the race for PSG winger Bradley Barcola. The Parisiens, however, are reluctant to sell the 22-year-old talent.

The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, while young left-back Myles Lewis-Skelly has agreed to sign a new contract with the North Londoners.
