Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have reportedly learned how much they will have to pay for Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado.
The 21-year-old midfielder is one of the most sought-after young players in Spain. His last-season showings have drawn the attention of many prominent teams in Europe.
Casado’s contract with his boyhood club Barcelona expires on June 30, 2028.
Chelsea and Atletico Madrid Learn How Much They Will Have to Pay for Marc Casado
Over the last few days, Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado has been linked with a move away from Catalonia. Initially, a report from Diario Sport claimed that Casado had received offers from Premier League side Chelsea and Barca’s LaLiga rivals, Atletico Madrid. The Spanish outlet suggested that if Chelsea or Atletico made an offer exceeding €30 million (£26 million), the Blaugrana would accept it.
Now, a new report from Diario Sport has quoted an even higher price tag. According to Sport, Barcelona will only sell Casado if they receive an offer in the region of €50 million (£43 million) this summer. Barca reportedly rate Casado highly, but they also acknowledge the increased competition for places in midfield.

Frenkie de Jong, whose future looked uncertain after he lamented the lack of silverware, has become a starter under Hansi Flick. The Dutchman is now expected to extend his stay in Catalonia. Additionally, Marc Bernal has recovered from his knee injury and will look to get minutes in midfield.
Selling Casado will also boost their finances. Long-term target, Nico Williams, has reportedly agreed personal terms with Barca, but the deal has seemingly stalled. Athletic Bilbao are demanding that Barcelona pay Williams’ €62 million release clause in full, while the Catalans want to spread their payments out. If they can generate enough funds from Casado’s sale, they should be able to afford William’s upfront payment.
Opinion: Marc Casado Not Likely to Leave Barcelona This Summer
Rising through the ranks at La Masia, Marc Casado joined Barcelona’s senior team in July 2024. Last season, he played 36 matches for the club, scoring 1 goal and claiming 6 assists.
Although competition for places will increase from next season, we do not think it will contribute to his exit. Only 21, Casado is still only finding his feet. The competition with Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and others will help him develop. Casado’s versatility also makes him an asset to Hansi Flick. With Barcelona aiming to win the Champions League next season, the coach will hate to lose such an important member of the squad.
As an academy graduate, he shares a close bond with the Barcelona fan base. He signed a new deal with the club in June 2024 and has expressed his desire to spend his whole career at the club.

In March, he said:
“I want to complete my entire career at Barcelona and retire here.
“That’s my dream… It’s the club I love.”
It is highly unlikely that he will move to Chelsea or rivals Atletico Madrid, leaving such a promising project.
