Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly pulled the plug on a massive documentary deal that would have earned the club £10 million.
Streaming giant Amazon wanted to base the next season of the renowned ‘All or Nothing’ documentary on Man Utd.
There have been 14 ‘All or Nothing’ documentaries so far, covering teams from American football, association football, ice hockey, and rugby union.
Man Utd Boss Ruben Amorim Pulls Plug on ‘All or Nothing’ Deal Worth £10 Million
Amazon MGM Studios has had a lot of success with the ‘All or Nothing’ series since 2016. There have been six documentaries on teams from association football. From the Premier League, Manchester City (2018), Tottenham Hotspur (2020), and Arsenal (2022) featured on ‘All or Nothing.’ National teams, Brazil (2020) and Germany (2023), as well as Serie A outfit Juventus (2021), have also had seasons on them.
Amazon wanted to document Man Utd next, and as per The Athletic, the two parties had been secretly negotiating for months. The streaming giant was reportedly prepared to pay a series-record £10 million to Man Utd. However, Man Utd coach Ruben Amorim was not on board, causing the project to fall through.
Plucked away mid season, continuous issues with player culture, a squad not fit for purpose, a board with their hands tied due to years of prior mismanagement, talks of a documentary and all our rivals getting ahead.

‘All or Nothing’ embraces a fly-on-the-wall approach to documentary, observing all without interrupting the natural flow. It captures hours and hours of video throughout the campaign, accessing areas that are not open to the public. Amorim was reportedly not comfortable with it, and the project could not proceed without his cooperation.
According to The Athletic, Amorim and Man Utd thought the intrusion would negatively impact the team’s performance. The commercial department was pushing for the documentary, but gave the football unit the final say. With the coach expressing concern, Man Utd closed negotiations with ‘All or Nothing’.
‘All or Nothing’ Could Have Enjoyed Record-Breaking Viewership with Man Utd Deal
Man Utd are one of the most popular clubs in football, with millions of fans tuning in for their matches. So, making a documentary on the Red Devils was a slam dunk for Amazon. However, United’s popularity was not the only hook for the streaming giant.
🚨Man Utd, a shadow of its former self under the Glazers and Ratcliffe. Crippled by debt and poor decisions. Only a takeover by owners like Qatar 🇶🇦 can restore the club's greatness and honor the fans. Time for change! #GlazersOut #RatcliffeOut #QatarIn pic.twitter.com/3mitAMcpQI

Man Utd are going through their bleakest phase in Premier League history. Last season, they finished 15th in the Premier League rankings and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham. A documentary shedding light on the ongoing struggles at Man Utd would have raked in millions of views, not just from fans but also from rivals. It would have undoubtedly boosted United’s visibility on a global scale, but the club supposedly did not want such publicity.
Man Utd have also had a poor transfer window so far. Despite having an edge in the race for Bryan Mbeumo, they have not been able to close the deal. Meanwhile, they have put some big names on the transfer list, led by academy graduate Marcus Rashford. Inter Milan have shown interest in Rashford, but he seemingly wants to join LaLiga giants Barcelona.
