Reigning Masters champion and five-time major champion Rory McIlroy has had a brand new haircut ahead of the Scottish Open.
The career Grand Slammer winner has received mixed reviews from shocked golf fans on social media for his latest haircut.
Shock Rory McIlroy Haircut Receives Mixed Reviews From Golf Fans Ahead Of Scottish Open
Rory McIlroy features in the Scottish Open ahead of the fourth and final major championship next week in his home country of Northern Ireland.
McIlroy is one of several Scottish Open past winners teeing it up at Renaissance Club this week, looking to hit form ahead of the 153rd Open Championship next week.
The 36-year-old is forever in the spotlight, both on and off the golf course. That has once again proven to be the case this week, with McIlroy now in the headlines for his latest haircut before evening teeing off.
McIlroy, who won the Scottish Open two years ago ahead of hometown hero Robert MacIntyre, has been given a buzz cut from his barber in preparation for this week’s PGA Tour golf tournament in North Berwick.

McIlroy achieved the career Grand Slam with victory at The Masters back in April, but hasn’t been firing on all cylinders since. Many fans felt winning at Augusta would have taken a huge weight off McIlroy’s shoulders, but that hasn’t quite been the case.
The Northern Irishman will be hoping that his fresh haircut is the secret to finding his best golf again as he embarks on a huge two weeks.
Winning the Scottish Open for the second time would be a bonus, but for McIlroy, who boasts a colossal £200m net worth, winning The Open at Royal Portrush in his home country will be the priority.
The five-time major champion last won the coveted Claret Jug back in 2014 at Royal Liverpool, which remains the only time he has had Open Championship success.
Now with his new haircut, McIlroy will be hoping to add a second Claret Jug in front of his home fans. If not, he’ll have to look ahead to the future Open golf venues in 2026 onwards.
Golf Fans React To Rory McIlroy’s New Haircut
Rory McIlroy’s latest haircut has received mixed reviews from golf fans across social media.
Some fans have criticised the fresh look, insisting that it has aged the Northern Irishman considerably. Others have been a little kinder, with some not caring at all what the five-time major champion does with his hair.
The best golf betting sites have listed McIlroy as one of the pre-tournament favourites at both the Scottish Open and 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush. If he is to have success in either, his fresh haircut could indeed turn out to be the catalyst.
Regardless of what fans think, it’s only a haircut and it has no meaning whatsoever on McIlroy performance on the fairways.
Hopefully he doesn’t miss the ‘cut’.
Rory’s in decent shape with a boat load of money, but man has he had some stress the last few years!

Wow, the guy has all the money in the world and can't afford a good barber in Ireland? 😂😂😂😂

Some have been kinder than others, with several fans stating that McIlroy has aged with his latest buzz cut. Another fan stated that with all of McIlroy’s money, surely he could afford to get a ‘decent’ haircut.
Rory McIlroy’s wife Erica Stoll is yet to comment on her husband’s haircut publicly, but she is sure to love it.
There have been comments likening the 36-year-old to Mr Bean with his new haircut, with another fan stating he looks like the third Gallagher brother now to Oasis duo Noel and Liam.
He obviously asked the barber for a ‘Mr Bean’

Whether or not Rory McIlroy’s haircut will have any bearing on his displays on the golf course in the coming weeks remains to be seen. It has had an impact on social media though, with the Northern Irishman once again the talk of world golf, this time for his buzz cut.
