The 2025/26 season of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) officially went live on Monday, July 21, catching most fantasy managers off guard.
It was a departure from tradition, as they launched the new campaign after revealing the prices of just six players. On Sunday, we learned about the prices of Alexander Isak, Jordan Pickford, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Florian Wirtz.
The following day, Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland were announced as the two most expensive players in the 2025/26 FPL season. The Liverpool great costs £14.5 million in the 2025/26 FPL season, breaking a long-standing record set by Cristiano Ronaldo.

With a price tag of £14.0 million, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is the most expensive forward in the 2025/26 FPL season. Last year, he was the most valuable player in the game, coming in at £15.0 million. A sub-par season by his lofty standards, which saw him pick up 181 points in FPL, has seen him lose a million.
According to the best betting sites in the UK, Haaland is the favourite to reclaim his Golden Boot in 2025/26. So, picking him might be a safe bet.

Most Expensive Midfielders in FPL 2025/26 – Top 10 Ranked

Mohamed Salah is not only the most expensive player in FPL 2025/26, but he has also booked the highest-ever starting price for a midfielder in the game. Coming in at £14.5 million, the Egyptian King is the ultimate midfielder to own in the game. He bagged a whopping 344 points last campaign, finishing 108 points clear of second-placed Bryan Mbeumo. According to the best football betting apps, Salah is 16/1 to win the Ballon d’Or.
Salah finished the 2024/25 FPL season with a price tag of £13.6 million. Considering the season he had, which led to his third FWA win by a landslide, the price bump hardly comes as a surprise.
Chelsea hero Cole Palmer is the second-most expensive midfielder and the joint-third most valuable player in FPL 2025/26. The Englishman costs £10.5 million, matching his closing price of 2024/25. Palmer, backed by fans to have a smashing 2025/26 season, scored 214 FPL points last season.
Arsenal poster boy Bukayo Saka has clinched the final spot on the podium. The right-midfielder/winger has a cool £10.0 million price tag in FPL 2025/26, £0.4 million less than where he finished last season. Saka scored 127 points in FPL 2024/25, averaging 5.1 points per game.

There is very little price difference when it comes to defenders in FPL 2025/26. The nine most valuable defenders in FPL are all priced at £6.0 million. Riccardo Calafiori in 10th place costs £5.5 million.
Based on the points scored, we have given the top spot to Josko Gvardiol. The Man City defender scored 153 points in FPL 2024/25, finishing the season at £6.5 million. Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is second with 143 points. The Dutchman closed the season at £6.7 million. In third place, we have Liverpool newboy Milos Kerkez. The former Wolves man had 134 points to his name, which saw him close the season at £5.3 million.

David Raya, Jordan Pickford, Alisson Becker, and Ederson are the joint-most valuable goalkeepers in FPL 2025/26. All four goalkeepers cost £5.5 million this season. Of the four, Pickford scored the most points last season, bagging 158 across the campaign. At the end of the campaign, he cost £5.2 million.
Keeping 13 clean sheets, Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya emerged as the joint-winner of the Premier League Golden Glove award alongside Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest. He scored 142 points in FPL last season. Liverpool’s Alisson and Man City’s Ederson were separated by a solitary point in FPL last season. Alisson finished on 112 points, 1 point ahead of his Brazilian teammate Ederson.

As detailed in our comprehensive FPL 2025/26 preview, the new campaign brings a host of changes. The Assistant Manager chip has been scrapped, a special provision has been introduced to deal with AFCON absences, and 11 players have seen their positions changed, among others.
The 2025/26 Premier League campaign begins with a clash between Liverpool vs Bournemouth at 8:00 PM BST on August 15. FPL managers must submit their 15-man squad by 7:00 PM BST on August 15.
