Mohamed Salah Becomes Most Expensive Midfielder in FPL History, Breaks Long-Standing Cristiano Ronaldo Record

On the back of his once-in-a-lifetime campaign, Mohamed Salah will carry a £14.5 million price tag in the 2025/26 FPL season. This is the highest starting price for a midfielder in the history of this coveted competition.

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who started the 2008/09 FPL season at £14.0 million, was the previous record-holder. Ronaldo scored 31 goals and provided 6 assists in the 2007/08 Premier League season for Man Utd, winning the Golden Boot.

Erling Haaland Sees a Price Cut, But Still the Most Expensive Forward in FPL 2025/26

Man City superstar Erling Haaland had a quiet season by his lofty standards. The two-time Golden Boot winner scored 22 goals and claimed 3 assists in 31 games for the Cityzens. His goal contributions were not enough to secure the top-flight title for Man City.

With a price tag of £15.0 million, Haaland was the most expensive player in the 2024/25 FPL season. He amassed 181 points, emerging only as the 10th-highest point-scorer in the division.

As a result, Haaland has seen a £1.0 million price cut this season, taking his FPL 2025/26 price to £14.0 million. Despite the hefty reduction, Haaland has retained his position as the most expensive forward in the Fantasy Premier League.

According to the best betting sites in the UK, Haaland is the favourite to win the Premier League Golden Boot in 2025/26. If he lives up to expectations, Haaland could be back to £15.0 million in FPL next summer.

Ahead of the price reveals for Salah and Haaland, we learned the prices of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Jordan Pickford, and Rayan Ait-Nouri. There have also been some big position changes in FPL, which will undoubtedly have a bearing on how managers form their teams in the 2025/26 season.
