Real Madrid forward Rodrygo could be heading to North London as Tottenham enter the race to sign the Brazilian star.
According to reports, Tottenham have made contact with Real Madrid regarding Rodrygo.
Spurs are said to have asked for permission to speak with the player, and have now made first contact.
It is believed that Rodrygo will cost around £80 million, meaning Tottenham would need to sell before they can afford to bring the 24-year-old in.
But new Spurs boss Thomas Frank is thought to be a big fan, and hopes to build a team around the Brazilian.
The bookmakers seem to fancy Spurs’ chances of getting a deal over the line, with odds on Rodrygo moving to Tottenham slashed in recent days.
At the time of writing, the best UK betting sites have Spurs at 5/2 to be his next club.
Rodrygo Tottenham Transfer Latest
Tottenham are aiming to build a new attack, with Rodrygo as the focal point.
A versatile player, he would bring both goals and assists to Spurs’ front line.
The South American is also thought to be interested in a move to the Premier League, and could help Tottenham fight for trophies more regularly.
Rodrygo has fallen down the pecking order in Madrid, and is no longer a guaranteed starter.
With next year’s FIFA World Cup in mind, he may seek to join a club where he knows minutes would be more certain.
It isn’t the first time Spurs have been linked to a player from the Bernabeu this summer.
In June, reports claimed Tottenham were eyeing a loan deal for a forgotten Real Madrid midfielder.

Does Rodrygo Really Want To Join Tottenham?
However, while Spurs are keen to strike a deal for Rodrygo, it remains to be seen if it will happen.
Both the rumoured transfer fee and the player’s wage demands are higher than Tottenham would like.
With Cristian Romero possibly leaving, Spurs may need to cash in on him to afford a move for Rodrygo.
This potential delay may be problematic, allowing rivals to swoop in and hijack any deal.
But having won numerous trophies already at 24, Spurs are aware of Rodrygo’s quality.
It is believed that the club are willing to make him Tottenham’s highest paid player.
However, the decision will ultimately lie with the player himself.
And Foot Mercato reporter Santi Arouno has insisted Rodrygo does not wish to join Spurs.
He said via Twitter (now X): “Rodrygo has no interest in joining Tottenham despite reports.
“Spurs made an inquiry, but there’s no talk ongoing. If Rodrygo leaves Real Madrid, he’s aiming for a bigger club than Tottenham.”
And Spanish media have reported that Liverpool would be the forward’s preferred destination.
Despite already making numerous signings, Rodrygo is seen as an option to replace Bayern Munich-bound Luis Diaz at Anfield.
