Tottenham Eye Loan Deal For Forgotten Real Madrid Midfielder

Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid this summer.

Spurs have held talks with Los Blancos, and an agreement could be reached in the coming weeks.

Thomas Frank’s side are eager to bolster their midfield ahead of the 2025/26 season. However, they do not have the financial might to bring their top midfield targets to the club.

Tottenham Hotspur had a weird 2024/25 season. They were all over the place in the Premier League, finishing 17th in the rankings. Meanwhile, in Europe, they exceeded expectations, winning the UEFA Europa League. They beat Manchester United in the final to win their first trophy in 17 years.

Europa heroics, however, were not enough to save Ange Postecoglou’s job. Thomas Frank has come in as his replacement, and he his determined to turn Spurs’ fortunes around in the Premier League.

This summer, they have signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for £55 million. They have also made Mathys Tel’s stay permanent for £30 million and brought in centre-backs Kevin Danso and Luka Vuskovic for a combined £33 million.

Tottenham in Talks With Real Madrid Over Dani Ceballos Deal

Tottenham Hotspur now want to add a midfielder to their ranks, and Real Madrid man Dani Ceballos has emerged as a favourite. Under new boss Xabi Alonso, Ceballos has fallen out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to reports, the club have transfer-listed him, as Alonso does not consider him integral to his plans in 2025/26. He is one of the five players facing an uncertain future under the manager.

Ceballos is open to a change of scenery, as he does not want to spend his prime warming the bench. Having spent time at Arsenal, Ceballos has experience playing in the Premier League.

He is a great passer (90/3% passing accuracy in LaLiga), possesses good vision, and never hesitates to press the opposition. On paper, Ceballos seems to be a good fit for Thomas Frank.

Sensing the opportunity, Tottenham have registered their interest in Ceballos, opening discreet talks with Real Madrid to finalise the deal.

Los Merengues want a permanent sale for Ceballos, but Spurs are only interested in a loan deal. There is likely to be a conditional purchase option included.

According to our sources, Tottenham are prepared to offer £2 million as a loan fee for Ceballos. The £15 million purchase clause would come into play if Ceballos makes 25 league appearances for Spurs.

Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur are working to find an agreement before Spurs’ US tour on August 3.
