PSV Eindhoven secured a 2-1 victory against Go Ahead Eagles in the Johan Cruijff Shield on Sunday, but not without Croatian star Ivan Perisic taking a nasty-looking tumble.
The Eagles had gone ahead in the first half through Mathis Suray’s 35th-minute opener.
But PSV fought back after the break to earn a comeback victory.
An own goal from Eagles’ defender Gerrit Nauber brought PSV level, before Sergino Dest grabbed the winner six minutes from time.
Played between the winners of the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup, the Johan Cruyff Shield is often referred to as the ‘Dutch Super Cup’.
Like the English FA Community Shield, it is the traditional curtain-raiser for the Dutch season.
In England, this year’s Community Shield will be between Premier League winners Liverpool and FA Cup holders Crystal Palace.
That game will take place at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 10 August.
But the Dutch fixture included an unfortunate incident for ex-Premier League winger Ivan Perisic.
Ivan Perisic Faceplant Takes Out Journalist’s Laptop
Former Tottenham star Perisic found himself tumbling over the advertising hoardings, taking out a journalist’s laptop in the process.
The 36-year-old crossed a ball in from the by-line, but was unable to halt his forward momentum and went careering into the boards behind the goal.
He tried to put his foot out to stop himself, but to no avail as his studs slipped straight down the board, sending him head-over-heels into a crowd of journalists and photographers on the other side.

Thankfully, nobody was injured in the process, including Perisic.
But the video shows him hilariously rubbing his face across the keyboard of one journalist’s laptop.
That’s certainly a little closer to the action than most would have bargained for.
Captured from another angle, we can see just how close Perisic came to doing himself or someone else serious damage.

The incident didn’t stop PSV from coming back to secure victory, though.
And the Dutch champions are odds on to retain their league title once more, with betting sites pricing them at 4/6 ahead of the new season.
What Clubs Has Ivan Perisic Played For?
Veteran winger Ivan Perisic has been around for a long time.
Over the years, he’s donned the colours of numerous top clubs throughout Europe.
Having come through the youth ranks at Croatian outfit Hajduk Split, he signed for Sochaux in France as a youngster, debuting for their reserve side in 2006.
He then moved to Club Brugge in Belgium before a stint at Borussia Dortmund.
From there, he joined VfL Wolfsburg in 2013, spending two years with the Bundesliga club.
It was his next team that most associate Perisic with, though.
In 2015, he joined Inter Milan, spending seven years with the Serie A side and making more than 200 league appearances.
After a year on loan at Bayern Munich, he joined Tottenham in 2022. Perisic spent two years in North London before returning to boyhood club Hadjuk Split in 2024.
He then joined PSV last season, and has so far scored an impressive 16 goals in 36 games.
