Newcastle are considering making a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, with Manchester United closing in on a deal to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
Newcastle Considering Move For Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson is drawing transfer interest from Newcastle United.
The Senegalese forward had been outlined as a backup option for the Magpies if their move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko failed, but with Manchester United closing in on the Slovenian, the North East club are considering a swoop for the Blues’ frontman.
Newcastle lodged an initial bid worth £65.3m (€75m), plus £4.4m (€5m) in bonuses for Sesko, but were rebuffed by his Bundesliga employers. They followed that up with an improved bid worth £69.7m (€80m), plus add-ons. Leipzig have reportedly accepted that offer.
Despite this, the player is said to be favouring a move to Old Trafford rather than St. James’ Park.
Fabrizio Romano’s latest report states that Leipzig and United are in direct talks over the prospective transfer, with personal terms already agreed between Sesko and the Red Devils.

Although Sesko’s move to United hasn’t yet been confirmed, it looks increasingly likely that the Magpies are set to miss out, with Jackson now moving to the top of their list of transfer targets.
The Blues reportedly value the 24-year-old at between £80m and £100m, and while they are open to sanctioning a departure if an acceptable proposal is tabled, they are in no rush to sell, as he remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2033.
Reports claim that there is a growing expectation that Jackson will leave ahead of the new campaign though, with Newcastle now leading the race to land the Senegal international.
The Magpies are in the market for a striker amid the prospective departure of their star man, with betting suggesting that Alexander Isak to Liverpool is a done deal.
It also comes following their failed move to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the Frenchman instead opting to join Liverpool for an initial £69m fee last month.

Betting Suggests Newcastle Lead The Race for Jackson
Despite being favoured to remain at Chelsea beyond the summer transfer window on Tuesday, Newcastle are now the odds-on favourites to land Jackson before deadline day.
According to UK betting sites, the former Villarreal star is at 1/2 to join the Magpies, while he is at 7/2 to stay at Stamford Bridge and 7/1 to join Unai Emery at Aston Villa.
Manchester United and Juventus follow in the market at 10/1 to secure his signature.
Alongside interest from Europe, Jackson has been subject to links with a move to Saudi Arabia. He is currently rated at around 12/1 to join any team based in the Middle Eastern nation.
AC Milan, who are said to have been offered the chance to sign the forward this summer, are at 16/1 to complete a move before the transfer window slams shut.
Meanwhile, the likes of Real Madrid, Arsenal, Napoli and Galatasaray, who have all previously been linked with Jackson, are rated as outsiders, all priced at 25/1 or more to sign him.
