Former UFC Title contender turned professional boxer Darren Till has given his Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev pre-fight prediction for the UFC 319 main event.
The Liverpudlian has provided a shock prediction ahead of the compelling UFC Middleweight Title fight in Chicago on Saturday night.
Darren Till Gives Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev Prediction
When it comes to MMA, it’s fair to say that Darren Till knows a thing or two. The former UFC Welterweight Title challenger and middleweight contender fought 24 times in the octagon, including 12 times in the UFC.
Since then, Till has of course moved over to the world of boxing, where he is now making waves too. Although he’s now a boxer, his opinion on big MMA fights is still highly respected.
Not only that, but Till of course shared the UFC cage with Dricus du Plessis in his very last fight in Dana White’s organisation. The 32-year-old was beaten via submission in three rounds by the South African at UFC 282, just two fights before ‘Stillknocks’ then won the 185-pound belt.
Now, du Plessis aims to make the third defence of his UFC Middleweight Title. Although he is the champion, the 31-year-old has once again been listed as the pre-fight underdog with UFC betting sites.
This is something that ‘The Gorilla’ somewhat agrees with, as he picks the 14-0 undefeated MMA star to become the new king of the 185-pound division on Saturday night at UFC 319.
Till’s du Plessis vs Chimaev prediction for the UFC 319 main event may come as a surprise to some, but the Liverpudlian is confident the Russian-Emirati fighter will become the first man to beat du Plessis inside the UFC.
Till: ‘It’s Going To Be A Demolition Job’
Darren Till most definitely hasn’t sat on the fence when it comes to giving his Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev prediction for the UFC 319 main event on Saturday night.
The former UFC Welterweight Title challenger and middleweight contender knows how good ‘Stillknocks’ is having lost to the South African, but is favouring the Chechen to reign supreme.
Ultimately though, Till is predicting the UFC Middleweight Title to change hands with Khamzat Chimaev becoming the new king of the 185-pound division:
“‘DDP’ will be facing the highest level of wrestling, especially in MMA. Can Khamzat beat him early on? Most definitely. But can ‘DDP’ give Khamzat hell? Most definitely,” Till said in a recent interview with Compare.bet.
“I think it’s 60-40 in Khamzat’s favour, but I just say, when it gets into later rounds, does Khamzat have it [the stamina] to go that? But I think he’s training with Arman Tsarukyan, so I think it’s going to be a demolition job, well I hope it is.
“But don’t be surprised if ‘DDP’ gives him problems because he is a phenomenal fighter.”
Some people have questioned Chimaev’s cardio, which has looked questionable at times. He looked exhausted in his fight with Kamaru Usman when it went past the first round, but ‘The Gorilla’ doesn’t think that will be an issue for ‘Borz’ this time:
“I think he’s going to drag Khamzat into deep waters, but I think Khamzat is going to be prepared, so I do see Khamzat winning any which way,” Till concluded.

Although Darren Till’s du Plessis vs Chimaev prediction hasn’t provided a method of victory, it is clear that he expects Khamzat Chimaev’s record to move to 15-0 with a dominant display over ‘Stillknocks’.
‘Borz’ is priced as the 2/5 favourite to beat du Plessis at UFC 319, whilst the champion is a 2/1 underdog just to win the fight outright.
Chimaev is priced at 6/4 to win by submission, 7/2 to secure the KO/TKO and 9/2 to win on the three judges’ scorecards. The champion on the other hand is 6/1 to win on points and via KO/TKO, with odds of 9/1 on the South African to win via submission.
These odds may surprise MMA fans, particularly given how good du Plessis has looked since winning the 185-pound belt.
However, Darren Till’s UFC 319 prediction of Chimaev to win the UFC Middleweight Title with a ‘demolition job’ is one that price setters seem to agree with.
