Manchester United Relegation Odds Now Shorter Than Bournemouth

Despite United reporting record revenues recently, their performances on the pitch are still coming under scrutiny. And after another poor start to the season, the layers have cut the Manchester United relegation betting odds.

Suggesting the Red Devils are not as safe from the drop as some might think.

Manchester United Relegation Betting Odds Shorten After Average Start To Season

United generated record revenues of £666.5m in the financial year to June 2025 – which is amazing considering their results on the pitch have been anything as impressive.

The daggers for current boss Ruben Amorim have been out pretty much since he took over at the end of 2024, which has why the next Manchester United manager betting odds market has also seen a lot of activity.

Current Villa manager Unai Emery is the surprise favourite to replace Amorim, should the Old Trafford board decide for a change.

But the football betting sites have also reported a big cut in the Manchester United relegation betting odds.

Slashing the Red Devils from 200/1 at the start of the season to 33/1 now – which is a shorter price than Bournemouth, who only returned to the Premier League in 2022/23.

The oddsmakers have also cut the Aston Villa relegation odds after a poor start to the season, while West Ham’s relegation betting price has also plummeted based on the opening week’s results.

Burnley remain the odds-on favourites to be relegated, with Wolves, Sunderland and Leeds next best.

Manchester United Have Won Just Two League Games This Season

The reason the Manchester United relegation betting odds have taken a tumble is due to another average start to their 2025/26 league campaign.

United lost at home to Arsenal on the opening week, drew to Fulham away and have also lost away to bitter rivals Man City.

But they did turn their form around with a top 2-1 win over Chelsea in their last game.

While even though it has no direct bearing on their relegation chances – United have also suffered a humiliating League Cup defeat to Grimsby from League Two this season.

Which further adds fuel to the flames on the problems still facing United this term.

When Were Manchester United Last Relegated?

Manchester United have been in the Premier League since it started back in 1992-93.

Over this time, the Red Devils have won 13 league titles and more than any other club in the Premier League era.

So, this means you have to go back to the old Division One to find the last time Manchester United were relegated.

This was in 1973-74 – when United ended that season in 21st position, with only 32 points.

They lost 20 games in the league that season – two more than last season (2024/25).

United spent only one season in the old Division Two – they were promoted back to the old Division One in 1975 as Div 2 champions.

Prior to that, United have been relegated four other times.
