Donald Trump To Present Ryder Cup

There is a planned presidential visit to Bethpage Golf Course for the opening day (Friday), but could Donald Trump also present the Ryder Cup on Sunday?

Golf-Loving Donald Trump Tipped To Present Ryder Cup To Winning Team

Some are saying the Donald Trump Ryder Cup visit on Friday might lead to delayed tee-times – something us amateur golfers are used to, but not the pros.

However, with the added security around any president trip this is a strong possibility.

Just ask the organsiers of the US Open tennis final – when Donald Trump turning up to the Sinner vs Alcaraz clash leading to a 40-minute delay.

But if the Trump trip to Farmingdale on Friday does go smoothly – then there is every chance he could return on Sunday to present the Ryder Cup.

Donald Trump Would Become The First Sitting US President To Present Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup format on the final day is all about the singles – as ALL 24 players will be in action with 12 points on offer.

Therefore, a lot can change over the course of Sunday, with many twists and turns – resulting in the guys updating the leaderboard being busier than Santa on Christmas Eve.

Before a ball was hit the betting sites were making USA the odds-on favourites and with home advantage it’s easy to see why.

Based on the world rankings the USA team also have the best players – with all 12 ranked in the top 25.

But whichever team comes out tops on Sunday, they could be involved in creating more Ryder Cup history – if Donald Trump presents the Ryder Cup.

Why?

No American president has personally presented the Ryder Cup to the winning team.

In the past, George H.W. Bush and son George W. were well-known backers of the US team.

While Trump himself, in his first term as president and the last US leader Joe Biden, where both supporters – but none of these actually presented the Ryder Cup.

Meaning Donald Trump, if there on Sunday – would be the first.

Who Normally Presents The Ryder Cup?

The Ryder Cup is normally presented to the winning team by representatives from the Ryder Cup’s organising bodies.

Which is the PGA European Tour and the PGA of America.

But with Trump recently presenting the football Club World Cup to Chelsea, being at the Super Bowl in February, a Yankees game this month and the US Open tennis final – then the limelight-loving president has shown a liking for attending big sporting events this year.

English golfer Justin Rose, who was runner-up in the Masters this season, has also voiced his opinion if Donald Trump was to present the Ryder Cup.

Saying it would be a “great opportunity” if Trump did pop in to present the Ryder Cup on Sunday.

“100 per cent, yeah, I would love the chance to have that opportunity,” added Rose, who is making his seventh Ryder Cup appearance.

Rose went onto joke that he probably won’t want to present if the European side win.

Saying. “Listen, I’m not sure he’s going to want to be on the stage congratulating the team that wins in his backyard”

“But of course, he’s the president, ultimate respect, and that would be a great opportunity.”

“Obviously he’s going to bring certainly a lot of attention and patriotism to the event”

However, European fans will be hoping another ‘Donald’ – their captain Luke – will the one to lift the 2025 Ryder Cup on Sunday.
