Hoping to get their Premier League campaign back on track, Chelsea will host league leaders Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
It is a crucial game for the Reds as well, as they are looking to bounce back after the shock defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.
Chelsea vs Liverpool Preview and Team News
Preview
Chelsea
After their FIFA Club World Cup win, Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea started the Premier League season as one of the outside contenders for the title. They went unbeaten in their first three matches, winning twice.
Since the international break, however, their form has taken a nose-dive. They have dropped points in all three games since, losing to Manchester United (2-1) and Brighton & Hove Albion (3-1) and drawing with Brentford (2-2). With eight points on the board (W 2, D 2, L 2), the Blues are in eighth place in the league rankings.

The pressure has been building on Maresca to turn it around, with the next Chelsea manager betting odds on the rise in the market.
Liverpool
Liverpool were on a spotless run until Matchday 6. Arne Slot’s reigning English champions beat Bournemouth, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Burnley, and Everton, scoring 11 goals and conceding five.
They, however, showed some signs of defensive frailty and a disjointed attack during their winning run. On Matchday 6, Crystal Palace exploited both, as Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah’s goals propelled the Eagles to a 2-1 win.

The defeat has seemingly had a profound effect on Liverpool. In mid-week, they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, marking two consecutive away defeats.
Team News
Joao Pedro saw a red card in the 1-0 Champions League victory over Benfica, but he will be eligible for selection. Trevoh Chalobah, however, will be suspended after being sent off against Brighton.
Enzo Maresca is also dealing with a sizable injury list. Cole Palmer (groin), Liam Delap (thigh), Levi Colwill (knee), Dario Essugo (thigh), and Tosin Adarabioyo (calf) are out, while Andrey Santos and Wesley Fofana are doubtful.
Liverpool, meanwhile, will be without their No. 1 goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, after he suffered a groin injury in the defeat to Galatasaray. Hugo Ekitike is also dealing with a thigh issue, but he should be fit enough to feature on the bench.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Prediction and Best Bet
Chelsea and Liverpool might be cautious going into the match on Saturday, as avoiding defeat would be at the top of their agenda. Liverpool have not won at Stamford Bridge since 20 September 2020, losing once and playing out three draws. Also, five of their last eight Premier League matches ended all square.
Considering how Chelsea and Liverpool have played this season, we do not foresee either team getting the win.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
Best Bet: Chelsea to Draw with Liverpool @14/5
