Bournemouth have agreed a €35m (£30.5m) deal to sign Vasco da Gama winger Rayan despite reported interest from fellow Premier League side Newcastle.

Bournemouth Agree €35m Rayan Deal

Vasco da Gama winger Rayan is closing in on a €35m (£30.5m) move to Bournemouth.

According to numerous reports, a deal has been verbally agreed between both clubs for the 19-year-old to officially join the Cherries over the coming days.

Documents are being checked and exchanged between all parties today, with the south coast club planning to schedule Rayan’s medical for later this week if all goes to plan.

The young talent is keen on joining a club in the Premier League.

He is expected to come in as the replacement for Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, who departed the Vitality for Manchester City in a £64m deal earlier this month.

Rayan has totalled 25 goals and two assists in 99 appearances for Vasco between 2023 and 2026. He enjoyed his best campaign yet last year, registering 20 goals and one assist in 57.

Typically deployed on the right wing or in right midfield, the Brazil U20 international is also capable of playing as a striker or on the left wing, providing similar versatility to Semenyo.

He has featured just once for Vasco in 2026, netting twice in their 4-2 triumph over Marica in their Carioca season opener. He missed out on their most recent outing against Nova Iguacu.

Subject to official confirmation, Rayan becomes the Cherries’ third signing of the January transfer window, following Fraser Forster and Alex Toth through the door.

Bournemouth Pip Newcastle to Rayan Signing

This is all despite reported interest from another Premier League side in Newcastle United.

It was reported by Brazilian media on Tuesday that a Newcastle bid for Rayan was forthcoming, however Eddie Howe quickly denied these rumours in a press conference on Tuesday night.

Asked about reports linking the Magpies with a move for the youngster ahead of his side’s Champions League clash against PSV on Wednesday, he said: “There’s no truth in that.”

It is also believed that Russian Premier League side Zenit Saint Petersburg had lodged a £30m bid for Rayan, whose contract in Brazil included a £69m release clause.

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were said to be interested, too.

Elsewhere, the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, AC Milan, Lazio, Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and more have all been linked in previous months.

Bournemouth look to have beaten them all to his signature though, and he could be officially announced as a Cherries player before the end of the week.

Andoni Iraola’s side, who have won just one of their last 13 Premier League matches, are next in action against reigning English champions Liverpool at the Vitality on Saturday evening.

Rayan is unlikely to be available for that fixture, but he could be involved for the trip to Molineux to take on bottom-of-the-table Wolves the following Saturday on January 31.
