Josh Sargent is pushing for a transfer to join MLS side Toronto FC following a ‘heated meeting’ with Norwich chief Ben Knapper and head coach Philippe Clement.
Josh Sargent Pushing for MLS Move
United States international Josh Sargent has seemingly played his final game for Norwich.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road, with reports claiming that he and his family want to return to North America following the birth of his third child.
A move to Canada to Toronto FC is said to be his favoured scenario, but while the Canaries insisted Sargent was ‘not for sale’, he was forced to train with the U21s amid transfer talks.
MLS insider Tom Bogert has since revealed that a heated meeting has taken place between Sargent, Norwich sporting director Ben Knapper and head coach Philippe Clement.
He says the encounter left Sargent ‘visibly upset’ after a comment was made about his family.
Bogert wrote on X: “After a heated meeting with Norwich City sporting director Ben Knapper and head coach Philip Clement… it appears that Josh Sargent has played his last game for the club.
“Sargent was seen visibly upset.
“One source says there was a comment made regarding Sargent’s family which was the last straw. He continues to train with second team as he pushes for transfer to Toronto FC.
“TFC & Norwich continue negotiations.”
Sargent has been a key player for Norwich since their relegation from the Premier League in 2022 and was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season in 2024-25.
He was also awarded the club’s Player of the Season award after notching 15 goals last term.
As for this term, he has eight goals and three assists in 24 matches across all competitions.
Toronto previously submitted a bid worth around £13.5m to sign the forward earlier in the window, however the Norfolk-based outfit reportedly want over £20m to sanction his exit.
Norwich Target Bodo/Glimt Striker
Meanwhile, Norwich want Kasper Hogh to join from Bodo/Glimt as Sargent’s replacement.
The Dane starred for the Norwegian club in the Champions League earlier this week, netting a two-minute brace as his side claimed a 3-1 win over Premier League giants Manchester City.

He finished last season as the joint top goalscorer in the Europa League, alongside Olympiacos’ Ayoub El Kaabi and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, netting seven goals in total.
Across all competitions, he registered 27 goals and nine assists in 49 games last term.
According to reports, a fee just over £6m would be enough for Norwich to sign Hogh from the Norwegian champions this winter, with the player keen on joining the Championship club.
Their interest in the striker comes as they look to stave off demotion to the second tier.
Recent wins over Queens Park Rangers, Wrexham and West Bromwich Albion have put them in good stead to do just that, as they now sit two points clear of the league’s relegation zone.
Tuesday night’s triumph over the Baggies came in particularly impressive fashion, as they prevailed 5-0 away at the Hawthorns. Sargent, of course, played no part in the fixture.
West Brom boss Eric Ramsay has become favoured in the Championship sack race as a result.
The Canaries are next in action at home against league leaders Coventry on Monday evening, where Clement’s men will be looking to make it four consecutive wins across all competitions.
