Norwich City are closing in on a permanent deal to sign central midfielder Paris Maghoma from Premier League side Brentford.
Paris Maghoma Nears Norwich Move
Norwich are set to sign Paris Maghoma from Brentford on a permanent transfer.
The Pink Un report that the 24-year-old is due to undergo a medical ahead of a permanent move to Carrow Road as Philippe Clement looks to bolster his midfield options.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Maghoma is typically deployed in central midfield but is expected to play in the number 10 role for the Canaries.
Signing an attacking midfielder has been among the club’s top priorities in January.
Maghoma will follow Ali Ahmed and Harry Amass through the door in Norfolk.
The former England youth international joined the Bees from Spurs in 2022 and has made a total of eight Premier League appearances for the west London outfit.
He has also enjoyed spells out on loan in League Two and League One, featuring for the likes of Wimbledon, MK Dons and, most recently, Bolton Wanderers.
Maghoma turned out for the latter in 2023-24, where he made a total of 50 appearances for the third tier across all competitions, totalling an impressive nine goals and six assists.
Thanks to his impressive displays, he was named the Trotters’ Young Player of the Season.
This term, Maghoma hasn’t featured for Brentford but has trained consistently since November.
Norwich Remain in the Market for Striker
The Canaries also remain in the market for a striker. It is reported that Norwich are targeting Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt to fulfil that role amid uncertainty over Josh Sargent’s future.
Hogh scored twice in Bodo’s 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League last week.
Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts are interested in acquiring the Dane’s services, too.
Despite this, the Championship relegation battlers remain favoured to land Hogh before the transfer window slams shut next week. The Norwegian champions value the striker at £6m.
Meanwhile, Sargent’s ‘heated meeting’ with Norwich last week has put his future in major doubt.
The United States international is currently training with the club’s U21 side, with reports suggesting that he is keen on returning to North America to join MLS side Toronto FC.
Toronto submitted a bid worth around £13.5m to sign the forward earlier in the window, however the Canaries reportedly want over £20m to sanction his exit this winter.
Norwich are next in action against top-of-the-table side Coventry City on Monday night.
