Wolves Face Hectic Week As They Line Up Deal For Ex-Manchester United Midfielder

Wolves are likely to be in for a hectic week with incomings and outgoings expected before the transfer deadline.

The rock-bottom Premier League side are heading to the Championship, but it won’t deter them from adding to their squad before the window shuts on Monday.

Wolves Eye Angel Gomes Deal

Boss Rob Edwards is hoping to sign former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes on loan until the end of the season.

Gomes, who made his England debut in September, signed for Marseille from Lille on a free transfer in the summer.

He’s featured 14 times in Ligue 1 this season, with 12 of those coming as starts, but his last came in a victory over Nice in November.

Gomes’ future this month has been thrown into doubt after he failed to make the squad in two of their last three matches.

Reports in France suggest manager Roberto De Zerbi would be willing to let him leave, and Gomes is happy to make a return to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old came through the academy at Manchester United, and last made a senior appearance in 2020 before joining Lille on a free transfer.

Wolves are 17 points adrift of safety but have shown clear signs of improvement in recent weeks.

Edwards is not willing to let his side go down without a fight and believes Gomes’ quality in midfield can help cause numerous upsets between now and the end of the season.

Wolves Could Face Departures

Wolves may face two departures between now and the end of the season.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is wanted by Besiktas, and the two clubs are in talks over a potential deal.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined for the last eight matches with a hamstring injury but is closing in on a return to action.

The Turkish giants are also plotting a raid on West Ham and have made an audacious double bid for duo Tomas Soucek and Alphonse Areola.

Roma are also looking to take advantage of Wolves’ plight, having made an offer for David Moller Wolfe.

The Norwegian international has been a bright spark in a disappointing campaign for the rock-bottom side.

The 23-year-old, who cost Wolves around €10million last summer, has featured 14 times in the top flight but has remained on the bench in the last three matches.

According to reports in Italy, Roma have had a €8m offer turned down from Wolves, but won’t be deterred in their attempts to sign him before the end of the transfer window.
