Roma are preparing to spend their Tammy Abraham transfer funds to sign Wolves’ David Moller Wolfe, according to reports.
The Italian side have banked around £11million by selling Abraham to Besiktas, so they can allow him to leave for the Premier League.
Roma loaned the England international to the Turkish giants at the beginning of the season, which included an obligation to buy.
However, Besiktas were prepared to allow Abraham a return to England, meaning they had to sign him permanently from Roma before flogging him to Villa in a deal worth £18m.
Villa are expected to be busy in the next few days as they also eye a move for midfielder Douglas Luiz following Youri Tielemans’ injury.
Roma Wants Wolves Left-Back
Abraham’s deal is sparking a mini transfer domino effect as it allows Roma to raise the cash to sign Wolves left-back Moller Wolfe.
The Norwegian international has been a bright spark in a disappointing campaign for the rock-bottom side.
The 23-year-old, who cost Wolves around €10million last summer, has featured 14 times in the top flight but has remained on the bench in the last three matches.
According to reports in Italy, Roma have had a €8m offer turned down from Wolves, but won’t be deterred in their attempts to sign him before the end of the transfer window.
It’s suggested Wolves want at least €15m to even consider letting him leave halfway through the season.
Rob Edwards’ side are heading towards the Championship despite a small resurgence in recent weeks, and are looking to build a squad for the future.
How Liverpool Could Be Affected
Roma’s signing of Moller Wolfe will allow Kostas Tsimikas to return to Liverpool, with the two clubs in negotiations to cut short his loan.
The Greek international joined Roma following Liverpool’s signing of Milos Kerkez in the summer.
Tsimikas has struggled for regular minutes under Gianpiero Gasperini, and the club would be willing to let him leave only if they can bring in a replacement.
Roma’s director of football, Ricky Massara, recently provided a transfer update and said: “We are in a dialogue with Liverpool, and we’ll see how that evolves over the next few days.”
Andy Robertson to Tottenham back on?
While there are a lot of moving parts, Tsimikas’ potential return to Liverpool may allow Andy Robertson to join Tottenham.
Spurs’ move for the Scotland international hit an impasse after Liverpool blocked his move because it would leave them short of options at left-back.
Robertson would be open to leaving Liverpool as he approaches the final few months of his contract at Anfield.
Boss Thomas Frank wants experience in his squad, and hasn’t given up hope that a deal can be struck before next Monday’s deadline.
