Chisora Favourite to Beat Wilder Despite Inferior Career Record
On paper, Wilder’s career statistics dwarf those of Chisora.
The former WBC heavyweight champion boasts 44 wins from 49 fights, with an extraordinary 43 victories by knockout, while Chisora enters the contest with a record of 36 wins and 13 defeats, having been stopped on four occasions.
However, recent form tells a different story.
Chisora, now 42, is riding a three-fight winning streak, including points victories over Joe Joyce and Otto Wallin, and appears to have found consistency late in his career. The Londoner has also proven durable at the elite level, sharing the ring with the likes of Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Joseph Parker across multiple eras of the heavyweight division.
Wilder, 40, has struggled to rediscover his dominance since losing the WBC title. He has won just two of his last six fights, suffering defeats to Fury, Parker and Zhilei Zhang, with his only recent success coming against Tyrrell Anthony Herndon in June 2025 after more than a year out of the ring.

Sergio Mora Predicts Chisora vs Wilder
It is not only the bookmakers who fancy Chisora to come out on top.
Former super welterweight world champion Sergio Mora has also tipped the British veteran to prevail when the pair meet in April.
Speaking to DAZN, Mora explained why he believes the matchup favours Chisora:
“Wilder has a puncher’s chance, Chisora has that experience. The better natural figure is Chisora. Wilder is just a freak of nature with the power and the size and everything else. I love that fight.
“I would actually favour Chisora to do something great in that fight, not only the momentum but the style. He’s a better fighter than Wilder. Wilder is not polished. Wilder came a long way with just raw power and size.”
Mora also highlighted the stage of both fighters’ careers as a key factor, noting that Chisora appears better suited to a gruelling, late-career heavyweight contest than his American rival.
Chisora rejected the chance to fight Moses Itauma in Saudi Arabia last year.
