Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has said Barcelona are close to signing Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen.
Barcelona have also been trying to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao this summer.
With the Bardghji news dropping, many Barcelona fans are wary of the impact it might have on the Williams deal. SportsCasting takes a look at what the latest development means for the Blaugrana.
Fabrizio Romano: Barcelona Close to Signing Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday (June 23), Fabrizio Romano confirmed Barcelona’s negotiations with Roony Bardghji had entered advanced stages. The Italian said Bardghji could join Hansi Flick’s side from July itself.
“Barcelona are advancing and closing in on a deal to sign Roony Bardghji from Copenhagen!” wrote Romano.
“Agreement at final stages with the last details expected to be sorted in the upcoming days. The Swedish winger can join Barça from July.”
As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona see this as an excellent market opportunity. With his contract expiring in December, Barca could sign the highly rated winger for a lucrative price. Barca could have to pay just around two to three million euros (£1.7–2.6 million) to get the 20-year-old.

The Blaugrana are not the only team interested in signing him. However, the Swedish winger only wants to join the reigning LaLiga champions.
How Will Roony Bardghji’s Transfer Affect Barcelona’s Pursuit of Nico Williams?
Roony Bardghji’s transfer is unlikely to take a toll on Barcelona’s chances of signing Nico Williams. Firstly, the 20-year-old will not play for Barca’s senior team right away. He will begin his journey with Barca Atletic. If he can produce strong performances day in and day out, Hansi Flick could give him a shot at senior-team football.
Additionally, since he will cost just around £2.5 million, Barca’s transfer allocation will not be affected by it. Williams, on the other hand, has shown his mettle in LaLiga with Athletic Bilbao and should waltz into the first team.
Nico Williams Transfer Cost
Barcelona sporting director Deco recently confirmed the club were trying to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. He claimed that Williams was keen to join the club, and Barca were looking for a solution.
“Nico Williams wants to come… and we will try!”
“Nico, same as other players, is showing a strong desire to come… and if the right conditions are met in his case, we’ll definitely try to complete the deal.”
🚨 Deco on Lamine-Nico friendship to facilitate Barça move: “Nico’s name was already on the table last season, the idea of signing him has always been there”.
“Their friendship is a nice bonus, of course… but this isn’t a club for friends — we’re here to work and to win”. pic.twitter.com/UDRedI2rXn

For cash-strapped Barcelona, affording Williams will not be easy. Bilbao do not want to sell him, so Barca will have to trigger his sizable €58 million (~£50 million) release clause to sign him. Additionally, Barca president Joan Laporta has concerns about the move for Williams. He reportedly prefers Liverpool man Luis Diaz, but could have to battle with Bayern Munich to get him.
Between the high price and the Laporta issue, it will be interesting to see how the Williams saga unfolds.
