Tuesday’s all-Premier League EFL Cup tie sees two sides who have made poor starts to the season go head-to-head.
Brentford lost manager Thomas Frank to Tottenham over the summer, along with attacking duo Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.
Newcastle replaced Alexander Isak with Wissa after the Swede joined Liverpool, while Mbeumo moved to Manchester United.
The drop-off in quality has been noticeable, with the Bees winning just one of their opening four Premier League games.

The Midlands outfit managed only one shot on target as they drew 0-0 with Everton at the weekend, and were lucky not to have lost by two or three goals.
