Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca Has Support of the Board

Chelsea director Jonathan Goldstein has firmly dismissed rumours of Enzo Maresca facing the sack, insisting the manager will remain in charge despite the club’s recent struggles.

Speaking in an interview with Bloomberg TV, Goldstein reaffirmed that Maresca is doing a “great job” and is “100 per cent” secure for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea’s Recent Struggles Under Maresca

The Blues have endured a struggling period since the turn of the year, winning just three of their last 11 games across all competitions.

The poor run of form has seen Chelsea slip to sixth place in the Premier League, falling 18 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

A humbling 3-0 defeat against Brighton last weekend further compounded their woes, but the upcoming clash against Aston Villa presents an opportunity for Maresca’s men to climb back into the top four.

Chelsea Board Confirm Support for Maresca

Despite mounting pressure, Chelsea’s hierarchy remains fully supportive of Maresca.

Goldstein’s comments align with reports from The Athletic, which suggest that club owner Todd Boehly is still “happy” with the team’s progress.

“He’s doing a great job,” Goldstein said while appearing on Bloomberg TV. “Chelsea started the season very well. The last six weeks have been about finding their feet a little bit more.

“But Enzo has clearly done a great job in bringing the team together and developing the talent. We’re very optimistic for the rest of the season.”

When asked if Maresca will still be in charge next season, Goldstein confidently responded: “100 per cent.”

Maresca’s Long-Term Contract and Chelsea’s Project

Maresca signed a five-year contract with Chelsea last summer, with an option for an additional year, tying him to the club until 2029.

His appointment was part of a long-term vision, and despite the current rough patch, the club remains committed to his leadership.

Former Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell believes that the team has exceeded expectations under Maresca in his debut season.

Speaking on The Dressing Room Podcast, Sidwell emphasised that Champions League qualification should be seen as a significant achievement.

With a tricky game against Aston Villa on the horizon, Chelsea have a chance to bounce back and regain momentum in their top-four pursuit.

While the club’s recent struggles have raised concerns, the board’s unwavering support for Maresca suggests that Chelsea’s project remains intact.
