Dricus Du Plessis vs Sean Strickland UFC 312

UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis has sent rival Khamzat Chimaev a stern warning ahead of their UFC 319 clash on August 16.

‘Stillknocks’ has issues some words of warning to the undefeated challenger ahead of their UFC 319 main event in Chicago.

Dricus du Plessis Sends Warning To Khamzat Chimaev

Dricus du Plessis’ next fight is just days away. The reigning UFC Middleweight Champion is set to defend his 185-pound belt for the third time on August 16 in the main event at UFC 319.

Standing in his way is the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev, who is the latest middleweight challenger looking to dethrone the South African.

The pair have had some hostile back and forth in the build-up to their UFC 319 main event, with both fighters sounding supremely confident that they’ll get the job done come fight night.

The champion has had some stern words for the challenger ahead of their main event clash, insisting that ‘Borz’ will have a difficult time dealing with du Plessis’ fighting style.

Many are wondering whether Chimaev’s cardio will be up to the task if the fight gets into deep waters, which on the other hand is du Plessis’ bread and butter.

Du Plessis: ‘It’s Impossible To Prepare For Me’

Even if the 14-0 undefeated MMA star does last and enters the championship rounds, ‘Stillknocks’ has questioned whether Chimaev will be able to find someone who can emulate his fighting style.

In a pre-fight interview with FOX 32 Chicago, the 31-year-old has issued a stern warning to his rival and warned him that what he’s about the face on UFC 319 fight night is something he is simply unable to prepare for.

“With my style that is a very controversial style in the UFC, unlike anything that most people have ever seen,” said the South African.

“It’s only a benefit because it’s proven to be effective. But then again, how do you prepare for that? How do you find somebody to mimic that?

“At the end of the day, that’s almost my niche. It’s impossible to prepare for me because I have this unique style that, where do you find somebody to mimic it?”

Dricus Du Plessis Relishing Underdog Tag vs Khamzat Chimaev

Despite being the champion and the more proven fighter at the elite level, it is Dricus du Plessis who is the pre-fight underdog with UFC betting sites in this enthralling UFC Middleweight Title match-up.

This isn’t something that concerns ‘Stillknocks’ at all, who is more than used to being the underdog by now. Being the less favoured fighter is something du Plessis is more than used to by now:

“I’m the underdog, I’ve been the underdog for most of my career, yet I am the champion,” admitted the 31-year-old.

“So, odds don’t make fights and for me, I 100 percent believe this is the best opponent that I have faced to date. But so was the previous one,” du Plessis concluded.

Having beaten elite fighters such as Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker and Sean Strickland already, the South African is hoping to continue adding to his resume and continuing to climb the UFC pound-for-pound rankings.

Time will tell how the Dricus du Plessis vs Khamzat Chimaev clash plays out in the UFC 319 main event on Saturday, August 16 at the United Center in Chicago.

One thing you can guarantee is that ‘Stillknocks’ will bring the heat, as he always does. If ‘Borz’ does the same, MMA fans could be in for a Fight of the Year contender.
