Gianluigi Donnarumma could seek legal action after his PSG snub – with his agent Enzo Raiola saying they will discuss the player’s exclusion from Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) squad with their legal team.
Donnarumma, who was one of the heroes of the PSG’s Treble-winning 2024/25 season, was axed from the team’s UEFA Super Cup squad.
The Italian goalkeeper has since announced his departure from the club.
PSG Boss Luis Enrique Confirms He Was Behind Gianluigi Donnarumma Axing
On Tuesday, PSG manager Luis Enrique announced the squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur. First-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma surprisingly did not make the list.
Explaining his decision, Enrique said Donnarumma did not fit the profile he needed for his team.
“Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, no doubt, and even better as a person,” Luis Enrique told Sky Italy.
“But this is the life of high-level footballers. I am 100 percent responsible for this difficult decision. If it were easy, anyone would do it; these decisions have to do with the profile of the goalkeeper that my team needs.”

Enrique’s side signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille on Saturday in a deal worth €40million (£34.6 million) plus an additional €15 million (£12.9 million) in add-ons.
Football betting sites are giving PSG a skinny 1/8 odds of winning Ligue 1 this season – meaning bookmakers think they are dead certs for the title.
Donnarumma ‘Disappointed and Disheartened’ with PSG Snub
Shortly after Luis Enrique’s press conference, Gianluigi Donnarumma announced his PSG exit via social media.
Donnarumma wrote: “To the special Paris fans, from the first day I arrived, I gave everything – on and off the pitch – to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain.
“Unfortunately someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team’s success. I am disappointed and disheartened.”

Donnarumma Legal Action? Agent Threatens Potential Legal Proceedings Against PSG
Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent Enzo Raiola has taken aim at PSG for axing his client. He revealed that the former AC Milan goalkeeper was even ready to reduce his salary to continue with the European champions.
Feeling disrespected by the club, Raiola has said they planned to discuss the matter with their legal team.
“We are shocked by PSG. There’s zero respect by the club after 4 years together,” said Raiola.
“We will consider the situation also with our legal team. Gigio was even ready to reduce his salary but PSG changed the conditions again.”

According to Donnarumma transfer odds, Manchester United are the favourites to sign the keeper, but face competition from two Premier League clubs.
The Parisians reportedly want around £26 million for the 2020 European Championship winner.
Donnarumma played 161 games for PSG since moving from Milan in the summer of 2021. He kept 56 clean sheets and won 10 trophies with the club.
