Everton Duo Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane Clash in Boxing Fight

Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane have gone head-to-head once again, with the Everton duo battling it out in a training ground boxing fight on Thursday afternoon.

The former was red carded just 13 minutes into the Toffees’ Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday, having confronted his own teammate with a slap.

Luckily for the Merseyside club, the shocking clash didn’t have a negative effect on David Moyes’ side, as they prevailed 1-0 at full-time thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first half effort.

Gueye later apologised for the incident in a post on his social media channels.

“I want to apologise first to my teammate Michael Keane. I take full responsibility for my reaction. I also apologise to my teammates, the staff, the fans and the club.

“What happened does not reflect who I am or the values I stand for. Emotions can run high, but nothing justifies such behaviour.”

He concluded: “I’ll make sure it never happens again.”

Due to the red card being awarded for violent conduct, the 36-year-old will now serve a three-match ban. It comes just before he heads off to Morocco to represent Senegal at AFCON.

This means that Gueye may not play again for the Toffees until late January.

Regardless, the incident is now seemingly behind both Gueye and Keane.

Everton striker Thierno Barry confirmed that Gueye and Keane’s feud had come to an end, sharing a video of the pair playfully clashing in a ‘boxing fight’ on his Instagram story.

The video was accompanied by the caption: “Only love here.”

What Next For Everton?

Unbeaten in three, the Toffees are next in action against Newcastle on Saturday evening.

As previously mentioned, they’ll be without Gueye, who will be serving the first game of his three-match suspension. Keane, meanwhile, should retain his position in the starting lineup.

They now sit in 11th place in the Premier League table, ahead of their local rivals, with Moyes aiming to become the first Everton manager to finish above Liverpool in 12 years.

Should they prevail against the Magpies, they will almost certainly climb into the top half.

Following that, they round off the year with fixtures against Bournemouth (A), Nottingham Forest (H), Chelsea (A), Arsenal (H), Burnley (A) and Nottingham Forest (A).
