Ilia Topuria & Khamzat Chimaev Gain 1.1 Million Instagram Followers

UFC 308 saw an incredible night of MMA action at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on October 26th. The entire card from top to bottom delivered, with so many great fights and highlight reel knockouts scattered across the main card and prelims.

Although there were plenty of impressive performances, it was both Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev who rightfully stole the headlines with their two respective emphatic victories.

Ilia Topuria became the first man to knock Max Holloway out with a Round 3 TKO to retain his UFC Featherweight Title, meanwhile Khamzat Chimaev submitted former champion Robert Whittaker in Round 1 of their middleweight bout in the co-main event.

In the aftermath of both Topuria and Chimaev’s career-best wins, both men have seen a significant increase in their social media followings. Combined, the two undefeated mixed martial artists have gained over 1.1 million new Instagram followers.

It is apparent that both of their skills in the octagon have translated to an increase in popularity amongst fans on social media. UFC President Dana White has two absolute stars on his hands with both Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev, both of whom have a long and hopefully successful career ahead of them.

Ilia Topuria Gains 800,000 Followers On Instagram In Days After UFC 308 Win

After successfully defending his UFC Featherweight Title for the first time at UFC 308, Ilia Topuria has seen a huge increase in his social media following in the days that have followed.

Prior to the fight with Max Holloway, ‘El Matador’ boasted a following of 4.6 million on Instagram. Now, in the aftermath of his devastating Round 3 knockout of the former long-reigning 145-pound king, Topuria’s Instagram following has increased to over 5.4 million.

This means that in just a matter of days after UFC 308, the UFC featherweight champion has seen an increase of 800,000+ followers on his Instagram profile. Not only is this increase in social media followers significant, but it also catapulted him up the list of most popular UFC fighters in the world.

Before UFC 308 Ilia Topuria was the nineth most popular UFC fighter by Instagram following. Now, the Spanish-Georgian has jumped to number seven on the list of the most followed UFC fighters in the world on Instagram.

Khamzat Chimaev Grows Instagram Following By 300,000 After Career-Best Performance At UFC 308

Although ‘Borz’ was a fairly handy favourite with the best UFC betting sites in the UK to defeat Robert Whittaker at UFC 308, nobody expected him to do it in the manner he did.

Khamzat Chimaev recorded the best win of his career by a distance in Abu Dhabi, submitting the former UFC middleweight king in the very first round of their 185-pound co-main event bout. Talk about making a statement!

Given the manner of his victory, the undefeated MMA phenom has seen his Instagram following grow by over 300,000. Fans were evidently impressed by the performance of Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 308, which has in turn translated to a huge increase in social media followers.

The Russian fighter now boasts over 8.5 million Instagram followers, an increase from 8.2m prior to the event during fight week. This just goes to show, if you perform well inside the octagon, fans will take notice and follow your career even more intently!
